On December 12, 2008, the assets of Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. were purchased by HWD Acquisition, Inc., owned by Longroad Asset Management, LLC. While our new business name is HWD Acquisition, Inc. d/b/a Hurd Windows & Doors, don't be alarmed regarding the Hurd® brand. It is here to stay. Hurd has a rich heritage of 90 years experience in the custom wood window business. Along the way, we've helped hundreds of thousands of homeowners realize their dream home by handcrafting very unique windows and doors. We're committed to continuing on this path long into the future.

Facts about the recent ownership change of Hurd.
On September 15, 2008, Monarch Holdings, Inc. filed a chapter 11 bankruptcy petition for itself and for all its subsidiaries, including Hurd Window & Doors, Inc. Immediately upon the filing, Longroad Asset Management, LLC, a private equity company, expressed a strong interest in buying the operations and assets of Hurd, and on December 12, 2008, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin approved the sale of the assets of Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. to HWD Acquisition, Inc., a company owned by Longroad Asset Management LLC. While that is all very legal in nature, essentially what occurred was Hurd's parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Through the process HWD Acquisition, a company owned and backed by Longroad Asset Management - a financially secure, successful holding company - purchased the assets of Hurd Windows & Doors. What is the financial stability and future of Hurd?
The magnitude of Longroad's financial stability and backing of HWD Acquisition, Inc. produces one of the strongest balance sheets of any window company today. Is Hurd for sale? Did Longroad purchase Hurd with the intent to "flip" the business in a few years?
The Longroad company name alone speaks volumes about their investment direction in HWD Acquisition, Inc. and the Hurd® brand of products. They invest for the "long road." What is the warranty support that I will receive on windows that I purchase today?
HWD Acquisition, Inc. is proud to offer one of the best industry leading limited warranties on wood windows available today, including a Lifetime Limited Warranty for Residential Use. HWD Acquisition warranties cover all Hurd® brand products manufactured after December 12, 2008. Our warranties can be found under the Customer Service section of www.hurd.com. Once you have had a chance to review our warranties, you will see the level of protection that HWD Acquisition, Inc.'s has infused into them which showcases their high level of commitment to customer service excellence. Ultimately, what this means to you is that you can rest assured that we are here to stand behind our products long into the future, should the need ever arise.

Can I rely on the HWD Acquisition, Inc.'s warranty?
We recognize that it may be natural for customers to ask 'why should I buy these "new" Hurd® brand products?' The answer is, because your purchase today is more secure than ever before. The Hurd® brand is now associated with a new owner. One who is financially secure and committed to infusing the Hurd® brand with new capital, new technologies and a commitment to growth and excellence. As a result of this asset purchase, the Hurd® brand is emerging stronger than ever, leading the way in an industry in which many are teetering on the edge of a different path. Lastly, in the event that the Hurd brand was ever sold again the legal obligation to honor its warranties would transfer to a new owner.

How does today's Hurd® brand warranty compare to other wood window manufacturer warranties?
HWD Acquisition, Inc. is proud to offer one of the best limited warranties on wood windows available today, including a Lifetime Limited Warranty for Residential Use. That's right, limited protection for a lifetime on your wood windows. When you are comparing warranties you will also see that we have built in a lot of extra coverage that you won't find with others. Like coverage against wood rot, which is thanks to our exclusive CoreGuard™ wood treatment system that provides you with envelope protection against pests and rotting. Two-year coverage on glass stress cracks. An unheard of ten years glass coverage on Hurd FeelSafe™ coastal products. Our decision to go over the top to provide our customers with peace of mind and protection can be summed up in one word, confidence. We hold, just as our customers do, a high level of confidence in our products and their ability to outperform.

I purchased Hurd brand wood windows from the previous Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. company. What is my warranty from the new company?
The former owner of the Hurd® brand, Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc., is no longer in business. Certain assets of the company were purchased by HWD Acquisition, Inc. on December 12, 2008. The Bankruptcy Court order approving the sale specifically ruled that Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc.'s limited warranties would not be transferred to HWD Acquisition, Inc. However, one of the reasons HWD Acquisition, Inc. purchased the Hurd® brand name is that they recognized the quality and trust which the brand has enjoyed in its past by its loyal customer base. Therefore, HWD Acquisition, Inc. voluntarily has created a "Goodwill Assistance Program" for non-obsolete wood products purchased from Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. after January 1, 2007. Through this program, HWD Acquisition, Inc. offers solutions as set out in the Goodwill Assistance Program documents to customers of Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. who may experience product issues. This Goodwill Assistance Program extends coverage going back almost two years before the HWD Acquisition, Inc. asset purchase. By enacting this Goodwill Assistance Program, HWD Acquisition, Inc. hopes to demonstrate the commitment of the new ownership of the Hurd® brand to remain grounded as a customer- centric company. HWD Acquisition, Inc. recognizes that while the entity of Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. may no longer be in existence, the Hurd® brand will continue long into the future and, to be successful, it must foster the continued satisfaction of the Hurd® brand product's loyal past, present, and future customers. The decision to enact the Goodwill Assistance Program is solely based on our desire to help you - our customers. I previously purchased Hurd brand vinyl windows. What is my warranty from the new company?
The Hurd® brand is primarily a manufacturer of wood windows and doors. Previously, Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. did sell vinyl products. This division was sold to another entity, American Weather Seal, Inc., in 2006. Unfortunately, since the sale, American Weather Seal, Inc. went out of business in late 2008 due to the harsh decline in demand in the housing industry. American Weather Seal, Inc. owned all assets, liabilities, and warranties of any Hurd® brand vinyl products purchased. Therefore, the impact of AWS' closure with regards to warranties of Hurd branded vinyl products is that they are now nonexistent.

I've heard the new company is offering a special "Goodwill Assistance Program" to support customers who purchased wood products from the previous company? What is this program? Am I covered?
HWD Acquisition, Inc. has created a "Goodwill Assistance Program" for non-obsolete wood products purchased from Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. after January 1, 2007. Through this program, HWD Acquisition, Inc. offers solutions as set out in the Goodwill Assistance Program documents to customers of Hurd Windows & Doors, Inc. who may experience product issues. This Goodwill Assistance Program extends coverage going back almost two years before the HWD Acquisition, Inc. asset purchase. By enacting this Goodwill Assistance Program, HWD Acquisition, Inc. hopes to demonstrate the commitment of the new ownership of the Hurd® brand to remain grounded as a customer- centric company.
