Hurd Introduces New Monument Line for Architectural, Light Commercial Market

Hurd Windows and Doors introduced a new line of light commercial wood windows and patio doors for new construction and remodeling, including architecturally accurate wood windows and doors for historic renovation. The new Hurd Monument line will be fully supported by training, technical assistance and dedicated professional personnel within Hurd's newly formed Architectural Services Group.

According to Hurd Vice President of Marketing Joe Herman, the new line of windows and doors are ideally suited for the higher performance standards of this market. "Hurd has built a reputation on manufacturing the highest quality, custom-crafted products for the residential market. We have taken this capability to the next level with this new line – designed to serve architectural and light commercial application."

The Monument product line is distinctive for its heavy-duty wood construction with extra-thick extruded aluminum cladding. In fact, the Monument single hung window carries the coveted Heavy Commercial rating of HC40, as well as a Light Commercial rating of LC55. Builders and architects can choose from a wealth of construction enhancements, including a rigid nailing fin option, for added structural integrity.

Currently, the Monument window line features casements, awnings, single and double hung products, picture windows, direct sets and architectural shapes. The Monument door line includes a sliding French patio door and outswing French door.

The Monument line also includes the Historic series of doors and windows. The all-wood construction can be custom-matched to virtually any historic profile or time detail. The Historic series is designed to preserve or restore a project's original craftsmanship, while enhancing it with the benefits of modern, energy-efficient engineering.

With its extensive selection of size, color, wood, hardware, glass and grille options -- plus the capability to customize to exact specifications -- the new Monument line will substantially enhance the architectural and light commercial market.

As with all its products, Hurd offers anodizing at no extra charge for the Monument line. Anodizing gives the aluminum clad windows and patio doors a harder, more durable finish. Anodized products last longer with less maintenance, and have proven to withstand the rigors of light commercial construction. Other features include resistance to scratching, chipping, peeling and weathering, and greater fade resistance. It's available in four colors -- champagne, light bronze, medium bronze and dark bronze -- as well as clear.

The Monument line is available in a wide range of glazing options, including the superior protection of ClimaGuard SPF. Ideal for light commercial projects, ClimaGuard can extend the life of interior furnishings while providing sun control and thermal performance. In the end, Hurd windows with ClimaGuard SPF not only save energy costs for air conditioning, but also protects the investment in flooring, wall coverings and furnishings. ClimaGuard is a clear glass treatment, which means no dark tints, colored glass or shiny reflections. It blocks 99.9 percent of harmful UV rays and is recognized by the Skin Cancer Foundation to be an effective protectant against damaging UV-A and UV-B rays.

Hurd Architectural Services Group
Hurd is responding to another market need with the introduction of its new Architectural Services Group. The new service will provide architects and commercial builders with start-to-finish project management assistance – from evaluating specs and shop drawings to meeting the magnitude of customization requirements.

Hurd Architectural Services Group clients will be assured of individualized service from the start to the finish of every project. Services will include assistance with paint selection, factory mulling, trim, subsills, and various design options. It could also include more complex assistance in selecting the right product with the right construction to meet a project's DP ratings and code compliance.

"Hurd is known for its superior product performance in the residential market," Herman said. "Soon we will be recognized for our full service architectural and light commercial expertise, as well."
