Hurd Turns Bright Eye Toward the Future
New ownership, products and technology contribute to optimistic outlook.
Medford, WI – January 20, 2009 –The Hurd brand, which will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2009, has turned a bright eye to the future. After announcing in December 2008 that the company’s assets had been purchased by HWD Acquisition, Inc., a subsidiary of Longroad Asset Management, LLC, Hurd officials are optimistic about its new direction and growth opportunities.
“Over the course of 90 years, the Hurd brand has weathered some significant storms – none more intensive than the last year or so,” said HWD Acquisition President Dominic Truniger. “But we have not only survived, we have thrived. So, yes, we are optimistic for what the future holds.”
Despite widespread industry downturns, where capacity has been seen to far exceed demand, the Hurd brand has actually doubled in market share since 2005. Truniger attributes this growth to the company’s unflagging product quality, commitment to developing new products and technology, and the longstanding loyalty of its distributor- and customer-base.
“We know we have been fortunate. But, with 90 years of collective history and wisdom to draw upon, we also know a thing or two about how to handle challenges and unexpected detours,” he said. “Now, thanks to the capital commitment from Longroad, and their added guidance, we are very optimistic that Hurd will continue its steady and significant growth.”
In keeping with Hurd’s new product expansion plan, the company unveiled its new H3TM windows at the 2009 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas. The new product, a premium-performance window at a modest price-point, utilizes Hurd’s exclusive Fusion TechnologyTM and is expected to be very well received within the builder market.
