We think perfection is a journey. It's something we strive for every day in every product we make. And even though we may never achieve absolute perfection, the quest for it has given our Hurd family a tremendous amount of pride and satisfaction. Here are things that happened to us recently on our journey.
Hurd Windows & Doors Nominated for Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year
The Manufacturer of the Year Awards recognize Wisconsin companies that demonstrate a commitment to business excellence which has a positive impact on the company and the state, making Wisconsin a better place to live, work and play. Nominated companies are evaluated in areas such as financial growth or consistency, technological advances, product development, environmental solutions, operational excellence/continuous improvement, commitment to employees, and effective research and development.
Hurd’s successful business strategy during the past year was cited as one of the key reasons the company was nominated. In 2009, when the economy and new housing construction market spiraled downward, Hurd launched a plan to grow. The company seized the downturn to employ associates and regional businesses in a multi-million dollar renovation and consolidation project to build for its future and improve efficiencies. Hurd also looked beyond the US borders to grow their international export sales to 12% of the company’s total sales, utilized aggressive sales and marketing tactics to grow their distribution by 30%, launched a new line of award-winning mid-priced windows known as H3™, and is diversifying into the remodel and renovation segment with a new line of Transcend™ windows to be launched in January.
An independent panel of judges, with representatives from business, education, government and the media, will select the 2009 Manufacturer of the Year Award winners.
Winners will be announced at a black-tie awards dinner and program on February 25, 2010, at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.
