Hurd's New Eco System Is a Glazing Solution for Every Season, Environmental Condition
Eco System covers sun control, fade protection, noise reduction, home security, hurricane protection
Medford, WI - October 13, 2011 - Hurd Windows and Doors announced that with the introduction of its new Eco System, the Medford-based company now offers the broadest range of performance glazing options in the industry. The Hurd Eco System is a complete, integrated system that provides the leading energy efficient options along with sun control, fade protection, noise reduction, home security and even hurricane protection. It gives homeowners the most comfort-options of any residential windows on the market.
According to company officials, Hurd's Eco System offers a new level of high-efficiency insulated glass units. The flagship windows, Hurd Ultra-R, are at least three times as efficient as ordinary insulated glass windows. While an ordinary window might achieve an R-value of 2, Ultra-R windows are rated from an impressive center of glass R-6 to an unprecedented R-20. Ultra-R windows utilize Heat Mirror suspended film technology along with low-E coated glass and gas filling to offer amazing insulation values, great sun control/fade protection and improved noise reduction.
The lifeblood of the Eco System is Hurd's vast selection of window glazing options. In addition to a full complement of thermal insulation options, Eco System offers a broad range of sun control options. Super Sun Blocker utilizes triple silver coating and tinting to reduce solar heat gain while maintaining high visibility. Super Sun Blocker with IS-15 adds a special coating to boost dual-pane thermal performance to R-5 center of glass. Typical, insulated window glass allows near-full sunlight and 85 percent of solar heat into a home during the summer. For colder climates, Low-E 180 Passive Solar glazing has a high solar heat gain coefficient to capture the sun's heat. Other sun control glazing options include Low-E 366 and Solarban 70XL.
For the ultimate sun control, ClimaGuard SPF can be added to Hurd Low-E glass and Super Sun Blocker. ClimaGuard SPF blocks 99.9 percent of UV-A and UV-B radiation to dramatically reduce fading and extend the useful life of furniture, carpeting, wood flooring and other furnishings. ClimaGuard SPF is the only glazing solution recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation.
Other glazing options can reduce outside noise by up to 50 percent (Sound Control), protect windows during construction (Low-E 366 with Preserve) and even make cleaning easier (Low-E 366 with Preserve and Neat). Eco System also includes basic Low-E and Clear dual-pane and triple-pane Insulated Glass.
"Obviously, every home's windows are unique. That's why we offer more glazing options than other window companies," said Hurd Windows and Doors President and CEO Dominic Truniger, "No matter where in the world your home is located, each window and patio door faces a different direction, a different environment. Eco System windows can help save money on heating/cooling, save furnishings from sun or storm damage, increase security, block a baseball, even regulate daylighting - no matter what the requirement - we think Hurd has the answer," Truniger concluded.
Like all Hurd products, Eco System windows are built within the parameters of the company's commitment to being earth-friendly in all aspects of design, construction and materials.
In addition to the Eco System, Hurd's many styles of windows and doors are popular with new construction homes and for replacement windows as homeowners seek attractive, energy efficient options.
