MEDFORD, WI (11 January 2006) - Hurd Windows & Doors is introducing a whole new line of patio doors at the 2006 International Builders Show. Every patio door was re-engineered and re-designed to be stronger and more architecturally beautiful. The centerpiece is Hurd's dramatic new Kingsview(tm) 10-foot tall patio door.

"Hurd's patio doors are all new," said Jim Peterson, Hurd director of product engineering. "We've expanded the product line and made each door best in class. The engineering bar for our patio door line was set at nothing less than perfection. Our goal was to create the best line of patio doors on the market in the areas that count - aesthetics, operation, security and weather performance."

Aesthetics
Embracing luxurious craftsmanship, Hurd's patio doors feature all natural, all-wood interiors, visually free from any unsightly vinyl interior or exterior components. Each patio door is available in nine beautiful interior wood species. Hurd has also realigned the grilles and contoured them to match door panels exactly. The result is a clean, clear and beautifully symmetrical view. As with any Hurd product, homeowners have an array of choices in hardware, finishes, wood species, grilles and glass options, including Hurd FeelSafe impact glazing.

Operation
The operating mechanism of each patio door was upgraded to ensure smooth-as-silk opening and closing. Fashionable new hardware, designed exclusively for Hurd, comes standard on all doors. It's available in up to six popular finishes.

A new Americanized handle on Hurd's swinging patio door means homeowners turn from the bottom, mimicking the operation of many entry door locking systems.

Inswing doors have a sturdy adjustable hinge system while outswing doors have ball bearing butt hinges.

Security
All Hurd patio doors have three-point locking system. A visible lock-turn makes it easy for homeowners to see if their door is locked.

Weather Performance
Available in aluminum clad wood or all-wood, Hurd patio doors are low maintenance and durable. Perimeter weatherstripping covers all operable and fixed panels.

The new Hurd swinging patio doors are available immediately. The Hurd sliding patio door is available Spring 2006. The Kingsview sliding patio door is available Summer 2006.
